Even when an individual doesn't' know the lyrics to that song, they can oftentimes reconstruct them by concentrating on the melody. Melody gives words context beyond their literal meaning, which helps with memorization. Learning French is much easier when it's done with music and you can learn French online in this way. While you may not know the meaning of the words you're hearing, they'll become permanent in your memory, with less trouble involved in pronunciation.
