Where Do You Search For Medical Transcription Jobs Online?

Once you're trained as a medical transcriptionist, the big thing that is one your mind is finding that first job. Considering how many employers list "two years experience" as a requirement, it's pretty reasonable to be concerned about how you'll find that first medical transcription job at home.

There are plenty of resources out there to help you, fortunately.

Your School

The school or training program you took may well have job placement assistance. Some are even partnered with certain employers. Take advantage of the resources offered you by the folks you paid to train you in the first place. They want you to get a job after graduation. It looks better when they have a high placement rate, so you both benefit.

Don't forget any student and graduate forums your school may offer. Networking with your fellow students can be a huge help in finding work after graduation.

Medical Transcriptionist Focused Websites

There are a number of sites out there focused on medical transcriptionists. Some list job openings. You might jut find one who's hiring.

Work at Home Websites

Many work at home websites list medical transcription employers. You will want to be a bit picky, as some sites are more about earning money from you than about being careful who they recommend. But there are some very good, free lists out there.

Job Websites

Some employers will list their openings on sites such as Monster, Hot Jobs and so forth. Take a look through their listings and don't forget to upload your resume. You may get some unrelated offers from companies that try to recruit people into risky sales jobs, but sometimes real employers notice online resumes too. Keep it updated as you gain experience.

Online Searches

You don't have to rely on the listings made on other websites. Do searches on your own. Searches such as "medical transcription jobs" may turn up what you need.

The Newspaper

You won't see too many transcription jobs in most newspapers, but it can't hurt to take a moment and look.

A Word of Caution

Be aware that there are medical transcription job scams out there. If they ask you for money, don't pay it. A job means they pay you, right? You should not need to buy software from a potential employer. If they expect you to provide your own software, it should be an outside company you buy it from. But most will provide you with their own software or expect you to have something common such as Microsoft Word.

Jobs are out there for well trained medical transcriptionists. Be choosy about the program you sign up with, and work hard in it so that your grades show your new skills.
