The families spend warm evenings calling friends and relatives on phone and discussing the party for Christmas while it is snowing outside.
Aren't there many movies that have successfully captured the spirit of Christmas? Some good movies had very emotionally sensitive story lines telling of Christmas spirit shared by few families where in they not only loved their own families but made that extra effort to share their good times with unfortunate ones who had nowhere to go and no one to turn to on a cold Christmas Eve.
It is quite common to have some misunderstanding with neighbors over some silly matters. So also it is common to have fights or stand offs with in laws or other family members too. Christmas is the time to forgive and forget all this.So rightly we can say that Christmas is a season of forgiving and showing compassion and love.
There are many people out there on the streets who have nowhere to go and nobody to celebrate Christmas with. So also there are many children with families but are too poor to buy any presents or to celebrate with a party.But it is in the true spirit of Christmas that people reach out to embrace all those who do not have such good fortune as themselves and include them in their celebration too. It is not only the Have Not, who gain during Christmas but those who reached out to them with their large heart have become richer in the eyes of humanity and Christ of course. They are worthy of praise and blessings indeed.
Come to think of it we do a lot of spring-cleaning of the entire house as well as the garage and make our home spic and span in anticipation of the Christmas Celebration. We dispose off all stuff that has been lying waste over the years without being used. The unused and things that are not required by us are donated to others and we make space to buy and store new things.
Cleaning home and cupboards gives us a clean feeling and makes us feel happy. Cleaning home removes clutter from our minds as well as from our heart too. Once we are clean in the mind and heart, we begin to relate with our family and make amends during Christmas. This is why people say that Christmas time is healing time and time to clean our heart as well as mind to be able to receive Christ in our heart.
Christmas day is the big day for cooking and eating party. Around the table family gathers and preys before eating. People attend either midnight mass or morning mass and prey for the well being of one and all. When people all over the earth prey and call Jesus in unison, he comes down to bless one and all.
