Paris City Breaks Are A Great Way To Get Introduced To The City

What is a city break? This is a popular term used in Europe to describe a short vacation. In the United States it is equivalent to a weekend getaway. When in Europe, what better place could there be to take the city break than in Paris. Paris is truly one of the most romantic cities in the world and Paris city breaks are great way to enjoy a weekend getaway.

Paris is known as a city full of the sights and attractions. Some of the attractions in Paris are known the world over. Naturally if you have never seen the city before then you will want to take in all the wonderful sights that make this city so famous.

Certainly on the top of the list is a world-famous Eiffel Tower. It is certainly worth taking a little time to tour this popular attraction. No Paris city break would be complete without at least stopping to admire the mechanical wonder of the Eiffel Tower. Of course you want to stop here along the river and get your picture taken. This is by far the most popular photo opportunity in the entire city.

Another major icon in the city is the Arc de Triomphe. This is a magnificant example of Roman architecture and was created as a tribute to the French army. Construction began in 1811 but was stopped in 1814. It was at this point that Napoleon suffered defeat and consequently the construction of the Arc was stopped. This work was restarted in 1833 and was finally completed in 1836 under the direction of King Louis Philippe I.

The site of the arc is truly a photographic opportunity. The arc is at the end of the avenue des Champes Elysees and it is here that 12 different streets intersect. The arc is a tribute to Roman architecture and is similar to the Arch of Titus which sits in ancient Rome.

While enjoying Paris city breaks a location that is a must see is the Louvre Museum. This world-famous Museum provides some great sightseeing. Just the architectural facade is enough to make it worth the stop. But stopping here to visit the outside without going into the museum would be unthinkable. Even if you're not a student of art, the treasures that are contained within the walls of this museum will impress you.

Taking in the popular attractions is a great way to enjoy the city breaks, particularly the first time you visit this city. If you've been to Paris before then you owe it to yourself to explore behind-the-scenes locations that are less visited by tourists. Also no Paris city breaks would be complete with taking in at least one nice French restaurant. This short visit will leave you desiring to come back for a longer visit.
