Have A Pint Full Of Bubbly At Stuttgarts Annual Spring Beer Festival

Attracting over 4.2 million visitors each year, Stuttgarts Annual Spring Beer Fest is the second largest beer festival in the world. Taking place in the month of April or May, the two week festival is called Cannstatter Volksfest by locals who have been hosting this mega melee of merrymaking since its inception in 1818. Pioneered by King Wilhelm I and Queen Katharina to celebrate a good harvest following a period of famine the festival is a lot more than just drinking unfathomable amounts of Europes preferred beverage. As a festival of international proportions, the event has been since transformed to encompass over a hundred mind-blowing fairground attractions, live entertainment and an enticing food festival.

The biggest attraction at the festival is of course the seven beer tents that dot the festival grounds bearing the name of the breweries that sponsor them. The Schwaben Bru tent and Stuttgarter Hofbru tent hosts over 5000 beer drinkers while the Dinkelacker tent can house up to 4500 guests. The Frstenberg tent typically holds 2800 guests as the Festzelt Wasenwirt and Arcadia Erlebniszelt tents can accommodate nearly 2000. The Festzelt Gckelesmaier tent offers scrumptious roast chicken in addition to the festivals namesake beverage making it a hotspot for seasoned visitors.

Home to the biggest mobile Ferris wheel in the world, the festivals fairground also has its share of roller coasters, roundabouts, carousels and other thrilling rides. Some of the highlights include the Free fall "Powertower", Transformer carousel, Wild water coaster ,the Black Hole" indoor roller coaster and the Turboforce carousel while the 47 meter Ferris wheel and the record breaking 60 meter Ferris wheels are also frequented by visitors. Shooting galleries, 60 market stands and a chandler's market are also available on-site in addition to 95 food stalls that serve up delicious treats.

The French Festival at Alpine Village is also worth exploring for its French cuisine, beverages and music while the agricultural exhibition that takes place every three years is also worth a visit when attending the Stuttgart Beer Festival.
