Number one: Be familiar with the law and abide by them. Know your local laws. If its not legal, then dont insist on playing for cash. Nothing can end a sweet night on a sour note quite like facing criminal charges.

Number two: Determine how many players you are going to have over, and make sure that they know the rules ahead of time. By doing this, you will be able to set the parameter for everything else that you need to decide on. Decide on how many tables you are going to set up. Have plenty of drinks and snack food ready. Make sure, though, that the snacks that you are going to serve arent likely to leave residue. You can even decide to establish a ground rule that no food can be eaten at the playing tables and that all drinks must be set somewhere other than on the playing tables.

Number three: Prepare your materials. Have plenty of poker chips. You can make use of clay composite chips or lightweight plastic chips, but no matter what kind of chips you will use, just make sure that you have enough. It is advisable to prepare a minimum of thirty-five chips per player. Determine your chip denominations. A typical casino standard is $1 for white, $5 for red, $10 for blue, $25 for green and $100 for black. Have dealer buttons available, one for every table. It will also be cool to use brand-new decks of cards.

Follow these tips, and you're almost certain to have a successful Texas Hold em Poker party.
