Evidently, Ms. Zentai unitardherself loved the otherwordly artwork so much it became the cornerstone of her current collection: She created a fabric print from it. At the spring runway show, the first look sent out was a green organza pajama outfit featuring Jean's floating nymphs, all flowing hair and wisps of fabric and petals.
The trippy landscapes seem to have informed the rest of the Zentai unitardcollection, costume zentai from the wavy, clashing colour stripes of the leather handbags to the sculpted floral heels on the fantastical zentai suit . Earlier this month, Zentai unitardpremiered the animated film Trembled Blossoms at its Soho store (it can now be viewed on Zentai unitardwebsite). The mesmerizing animation is an extension of the James landscape, an excursion into the ethereal fashion fairyland of the Zentai unitardspring collection (James provided the concept, treatment and many of the storyboards).
Now semi-retired from commercial work, Jean is busy proofing XOXO, a book of postcards spandex zentai coming from Chronicle Books this summer, and working in fine art, preparing for his first solo gallery show in New York next year.
