Brisbane October Festival Fun

Taking your holiday in the Brisbane region of Queensland offers tourists many many fun things to do. Brisbane in October is considered an especially fun time here because of these many family oriented things to do that generally and for the most of them are free and very friendly on any budget.

If you enjoy good live music and art mixed with great food and all things Australian, the annual Brisbane Festival is a great early festival in October. Another early October festival is the Needle & Damage Done which features funny woman Fiona Scott Norman who, most likely will touch every funny bone in your body while she recalls last years bad songs and why they were terrible, keeping you laughing well into the next festival.

Oktoberfest is always a fun thing to celebrate, and not just for beer drinkers. Generally this takes place during the second or third week in October and is a great time. There is a lot of German cultural influence here and you can get a great sample of it at this time. There will be food and beer naturally, as well as puppet shows and live music with dancing. This usually happens in the week after the Coolum Kite Festival, which makes it a very good time to visit.

For those who enjoy beautiful plants, you won't want to miss the Orchid Bonanza show, sponsored by the Island Orchid Society during the second week of October. This show features the orchid and its unusual exotic shapes, all dressed up in the most amazing vivid incredible colors for the eye to behold. This combination makes these prize orchids the chance of a lifetime to view some of natures wondrous beauties.

Mentioned above are just a few of the festivals during the first and mid part of October in Brisbane. Closer to the end of the month brings about the Indy 300 Grand Prix for racing enthusiasts; the Craft and Quilt Fair featuring beautiful quilts in a quieter setting and the Young Filmmakers Festival showcases the talents of bright young promising filmmakers. If that isn't enough to do during the day, sets your night vision focus for the nighttime Nocturnal Bird Stalk. There really is something for everyone during October.
