subject: Accountants Score With Imps Deal [print this page]

Lincolnshire chartered accountancy firm Nicholsons has completed an innovative arrangement with local League Two club Lincoln City FC, where Nicholsons takes care of the clubs Human Resources arrangements in return for the Imps providing them with corporate entertainment facilities.

Nicholsons in-house employment service offers businesses expert support on all HR-related matters, including assisting with recruitment and selection, providing advice on compliance with equality legislation and drafting employment contracts and policies.

Lincoln City, meanwhile, provides a range of matchday hospitality options, which were already well-known to the partners at Nicholsons who had used the executive boxes and restaurants at Sincil Bank to entertain clients.

When the deal was struck for Nicholsons head of HR Andy Tomlinson to work with the club on staffing matters, the unconventional payment method was also agreed.

Nicholsons marketing manager Jeannine Peta Thornley said: Being paid for our services in kind like this is a completely new move for us, but one we were very happy to go along with.

In the current difficult economic climate, firms need to be innovative wherever possible, and this kind of bartering is growing in popularity. If both parties are offering something the other wants, and if everyone is agreed, then why not?

Lincoln City chief executive Dave Roberts added: While looking for a Human Resource partner, we were particularly impressed with Nicholsons, and delighted to agree a partnership. Their help and service so far has been a great addition to the management structure within the club.
