Top 5 Pay Per Click Tips That Can Increase Holiday Sales

It's the holidays and as many retailers make a huge chunk of their profits during this time of year, there's probably more competition in online selling than at other times of the year.

To that end, following are five pay per click marketing tips that can help you boost sales during this all-important revenue season.

1. Create Multiple Versions of Ad: If you've had a particularly well-performing pay per click ad, simply add some holiday phrasing to it and see how it performs. Holiday phrases can be works like, Free Holiday Shipping; 25% Holiday Discount, Free Gift Wrapping, etc.

The idea is to take what has worked for you throughout the year and capitalize on it for the holidays.

2. Check Out the Competition: While you should always do this, it's extremely important this time of year- especially in a tight niche. You don't want to be the one offering only a 10% discount or charging for gift wrapping when your closest competitor is offering a 15% discount and free gift wrapping.

3. Check Your PPC Campaign Results Daily: If you're not accustomed to doing this this often, make it a priority now. It is particularly important to check your pay per click campaign performance and run regular performance reports during the holiday season because it is a short season.

If something's not working, you want to be able to fix it so that you can maximize holiday revenue.

4. Don't be Too Quick to Make Changes: While this may seem to run counter to the pay per click marketing tip just above, it's not. To clarify, what we mean is to take a "long-range view." Long range in this case being a couple of days, or even a week. Don't make sweeping changes to your PPC campaigns based on a 12 or 24 hour window of time.

Make small tweaks and see what happens.

Caveat: Now if you notice something glaring that you know is not going to improve results, by all means change it" immediately!

5. Go Local: As in, use geo-targeting to ge the most bang for your holiday pay per click marketing bucks.

This is perhaps one of the best things you can do to increase sales during the holiday season. While your CTR (click thru rate) may go down, your ROI (return on investment) can exponentially increase.

Follow these holiday, pay per click marketing tips and you should see an increase in sales this holiday season.
