Market analyst firm Strategy Analytics forecast report released "Global Broadband Market Forecast Update." The report's authors Ben Piper, said: "It is clear that the future of broadband technology will be the leading optical fiber. XDSL telecom operator's existing infrastructure is towards the end of its effective life cycle. Soon, xDSL will be unable to support the need for higher bandwidth consumer applications. " The latest rankings released by Strategy Analytics show that optical penetration rate ranks the world's top 10 markets, eight are in Asia and Eastern Europe. To the end of 2009, South Korea 51% of households will have fiber to the home as the world's highest penetration rate of fiber to the home market.
