. Unfortunately, everyone isn't in a position to do something like this, especially those with extreme credit card debt. Getting out of credit card debt isn't something that isn't far fetched, and you can actually make it happen by taking little steps at a time.

When tackling credit card debt, it's more important to break everything up into small manageable steps, rather than the "big picture". Look at it this way - It may be easier to make one big payment of $10,000, but it's more manageable to make 100 small payments of $100 instead. Of course, you will have to deal with credit card interest, but taking some sort of action is better than trying to push your credit card debt off to the backburner.

To get started tackling your credit card debt, you need to make sure that you at least are making the minimum payments on your credit card bills each and every month. If you can make more than the minimum, try to pay a few extra bucks. This will help you eliminate your credit card debt even faster. A few bucks extra each month may not sound like much, but it surely does add up to knock off quite a bit of money over time.

If you have a high amount of credit card debt and you're in collections, you also have the option to settle your balance for much less than you owe. While this isn't strongly suggested, I only recommend doing this as a last ditch effort. Settling your debt this way can save you a lot of money, but it still doesn't look very well on your credit report.
